Unique handmade fused glass wall art with sardines swimming in the ocean waves lovingly crafted in Newquay Cornwall. Mounted in layers on a mounting board to give depth as well as casting lovely shadows onto the mounting board.

The Huer's Hut is an iconic listed building in Newquay, Cornwall, England which may date from the 14th century and have originally seen use as a hermitage and lighthouse. By the 16th century it was used as a lookout point for the seasonal arrival of pilchards in the bay. It was from this Huers Hut that the 'Cry' was given to announce the sightings of the sardines / pilchards.

The sea and its different moods have always been in my life. Especially its sound, which can be carried many miles inland on the wind, it is a constant background noise to life in Cornwall. The sea is all encompassing its colour, sounds and smell, its reflections, translucent quality and constant movement can hold your attention like nothing else. To me glass has a similar quality to water and is the perfect medium to express it. It is enigmatic you can look at it, or through it. It is there and not there.
